Privacy policy
This policy matches the tags actually on dumpstergang.org as of 29 October 2026. Controller: the editors of dumpstergang.org, [email protected].
Default loading and how to turn it off. Google Analytics 4, Microsoft Clarity and Adsterra (our advertising partner) start as the page opens, before you click anything. The cookie notice is a notice and an opt-out, not a gate. Press Reject in that notice (or Cookie settings in the footer) and the site stops loading them, removes what it can from the page, and stores your refusal for 180 days. A Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal is treated as Reject. Nothing here waits for an Accept click.
Google Analytics 4. Measurement ID G-JRGVF0FDP0, loaded from googletagmanager.com with the gtag.js library, which reports to google-analytics.com and analytics.google.com. Purpose: aggregate page views, referrers, device class and rough geography so we know which guides are read. Cookies: _ga (2 years) and _ga_<container> (2 years); the script also uses window.dataLayer and window.gtag in page memory. Google offers configurable user/event retention; we have not verified a property-specific duration. Standard aggregated reports are not governed by that setting. See Google's retention documentation. Google's policy: policies.google.com/privacy. Opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
Microsoft Clarity. Project z58jwqgdsz, loaded from www.clarity.ms and scripts.clarity.ms, reporting to rotating collection hosts under *.clarity.ms. Purpose: heat maps and anonymised session recordings that show where a guide is hard to read. Clarity masks form input and other sensitive content by default. Cookies and storage: _clck (1 year), _clsk (1 day), Microsoft also lists potential third-party cookies CLID, ANONCHK, MR, MUID and SM; browser restrictions affect which are set. Clarity can use localStorage and sessionStorage. Microsoft's current documentation specifies 30 days for playback and 9 months for click/heatmap data and labeled or favorited sessions. See the cookie list and retention documentation, checked 29 October 2026. Microsoft's policy: privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement.
Adsterra. Publisher ID 3403020, website ID 6159764, serving a Native Banner unit (NativeBanner_1, unit 31983241) inside the page and a Social Bar unit (SocialBar_1, unit 31983242) as the floating bar at the bottom. The two initial ad scripts come from bicea.org and load by default. Browser measurements on 29 October 2026 also recorded their downstream delivery resources from static.nresystems.com, cdn.show-creative1.com, cdn.show-sb.com and cdn.cloudpiko.com. These support the same ad placements; Reject prevents the initial and downstream requests on the reloaded page. Creative delivery can change, and we update this list when rechecked. Adult ads are switched off for this site; we run no popunder, no banner and no smartlink unit. Cookies and storage: ad delivery can use campaign, frequency-cap and session entries in cookies, localStorage and sessionStorage; we have not confirmed a stable vendor cookie-name or lifetime list for these placements and do not assign guessed names or durations; the floating bar also stores whether you closed it under dg_ad_float_closed in localStorage (no expiry until you clear site data). Data is used to pick and cap ads; Adsterra keeps it under its own retention schedule. Adsterra policy: adsterra.com/privacy-policy.
Personalised advertising and opt-outs. Ads may be personalised based on the page and coarse location. Turn personalisation off at adssettings.google.com, optout.aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.com; Reject on this site also stops the ad script from loading at all.
YouTube. Trailer buttons show a still image. The iframe to www.youtube-nocookie.com is created only after you press Play, so no YouTube request is made on first paint. When it loads, YouTube receives your IP address and may request media and player resources from YouTube/Google domains such as youtube.com, googlevideo.com and ytimg.com, subject to browser settings. The Play click is a separate request to load that video, including after Reject; Reject keeps the site's analytics and advertising tags disabled. Google's policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
localStorage on this site. Key dg_consent stores JSON {choice, ts} for 180 days after you press OK or Reject: granted or denied, the time of the choice, and nothing else. Before a choice is recorded, tags load by default and the notice remains available on each visit. Key dg_ad_float_closed stores 1 when you hide the floating ad bar, so it stays hidden on later visits. Both live only in your browser; clearing site data removes them.
Legal basis and retention. This implementation loads analytics, recordings and advertising by default, before a choice is recorded. It does not treat the absence of a choice as evidence that you pressed OK. Reject or Cookie settings lets you stop those tags, and the refusal is remembered for 180 days. Vendor processing and retention are described above. Our host may process IP address, user agent and requested path to serve and secure the site. We have not verified a site-specific server-log retention period and do not state one. Advertising vendors process data under their own policies; we do not sell messages sent to our contact mailbox.
Rights. You can ask for access, correction, deletion, or a copy of any message you sent us, and object to processing. Email [email protected]. We keep mail as long as the thread is needed to answer you, then delete it.
Changes. Edits land on this page with a new updated date. Material changes to the tags are also reflected in the cookie notice.
